Work Readiness program - “Getting ready for the world of Work”

Knowledge of essential workplace skills, attitudes and culture are the building blocks for success in any career. The Work Readiness programme is designed for young adults, students and recent graduates entering the workplace to help them integrate well into the world of work. The program helps them move from the world of formal education to the world of work with essential workplace and other soft skills that will not only improve their career goals, but also open doors to prospective employment.

The program has five compulsary modules (With two advanced/optional modules). All modules in this program are offered on a full time and self-paced basis.

Module 1: Career planning

The Career Planning package consists of modules that will help you plan a successful career and enhance job satisfaction. This package will ultimately help you choose a career, create a career plan, select potential employers most beneficial to your overall career goals, engage in activities to enhance your CV, and learn the basics of entering the corporate world.
Durations: 16 hours

Module 2: Job Preparation

The Job Preparation module includes sessions that will assist you in looking for job opportunities and best preparing you to land the job and excel at it – whether you are searching for your first job, you want to explore a different career path, you are unsatisfied with your current position, or you feel you are ready to advance to higher levels. Topics covered in this module:

  1. Skills assessment
  2. Job research
  3. Job applications
  4. Writing a CV and cover letter
  5. Job interview skills
  6. Digital profiling

Module 3: Workplace Skills

The Workplace Skills module provides sessions that will help you navigate the workplace and ensure that you excel as an employee and offer the best of yourself to your employer. These general skills apply to anyone in any job environment. Topics covered in this module:

  2. Workplace ethics
  3. Email etiquette
  4. Organizational structure
  5. Office protocol
  6. Report writing
  7. Presentation skills
  8. Effective Communication skills
  9. Dependability

Module 4: Personal Development

The Personal Development module aims to provide you with skills that will prove useful to you as a person, even when you’re not at work, though they will also prove essential in the workplace as you deal with stress, connect with colleagues and clients, and work out your personal finances, among other things. Module 5: Basic IT skills for the modern office

Module 6 (Optional): Business Skills

Module 7 (Optional): Consultancy Skills

  1. Introduction to Consultancy: How to start and run consulting business

How the program will be delivered?

1. The program will be delivered through a combination of;

  • online self-paced sessions,
  • Instructor led virtual sessions involving interactions with industry professional and career coaches.
  • Face to face sessions.
2. The final part will be delivered through hand-on experience in a work environment

How to enroll?

What are the other benefits of enrolling for the programme? You will be linked with a mentor who can guide you through your career journey. What will be my investment? Program participants will pay KES 15,000 or USD 150 for module 1-5 and will pay an additional KES 5,000 or USD 50 for modules 6 and 7. The amount can be paid in 3 installments.
